22" Cymbal & Gong Extra Special Janavar crash-ride

One of our most popular cymbals. Janavar series cymbals are typically considered to be light weight rock cymbals with a small bell, and are full sounding, bright, and clean. Cymbalistic's “Extra Special” Janavar cymbals are given traditional Turkish-style irregular hammering and lathing, for a slightly darker, more complex jazz sound. Compared with the mellower Turkish-style Holy Grail, these will have a slightly higher, more forceful tonality. 

Usually we give them a heavy patina for a slightly drier sound, and to highlight the complexity. I find that handling is remarkably uniform for this model— the very light >2000g cymbals are not a dramatically different playing experience from those in the 2300s or even 2400s grams. All Janavar cymbals are categorized as crash-rides.

“Raquel” - 1938g
First of three new very light weight 22s, with a normal Holy Grail patina. Lush warm timbre, easy to play despite the lighter weight— does not get out of control or wash out. 

“Christine” - 1874g
Christine and Matilda both have the normal heavy patina and three rivets. Both are a little funkier than usual, with a darker traditional jazz sound. Christine may have a little deeper tonality. 

“Matilda” - 1950g
Compare with Christine; Matilda may have a little higher tonality, a higher crash sound.

SOLD - “Violet” - 2376g
Lovely moderately dark/smoky timbre, full body, nice deep wash without losing definition. Rather splashy crash sound. High, focused but mellow bell. Great candidate for rivets.
